Dr. Kristen Poppa
Ph.D., Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
specializing in ministry individuals and couples
Kristen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She has a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Eastern University, a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Evangelical Seminary, and a Bachelor’s in Pastoral Counseling from the University of Valley Forge.
Kristen values the opportunity to work with people amidst life changes and she believes that clients can benefit from having additional support. In her work with individuals, couples, and families, she helps them to identify their strengths as they work collaboratively to determine the underlying problems, which have varied from communications challenges to life stressors, to a multiplicity of relationship issues. She also believes that clients often already have the answers and resources within themselves and working together assists clients in bringing those resources to the front. Kristen incorporates techniques from several different modalities, specifically family of origin information, emotionally focused work, and solution focused work.
Kristen has a special place in her heart for ministry individuals and couples, having a father who is a pastor and having worked extensively in church settings.
She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies. Kristen is available for telehealth appointments only.
